The following application is for practitioners from Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway who are recognised and qualified in the following areas of work:

  • further education teacher
  • adult learning practitioner
  • youth worker
  • youth support worker

For individuals recognised as qualified to practice in a country outside of the United Kingdom

In order to be eligible to apply for recognition, you must:

  • hold a relevant qualification which recognises you as a qualified practitioner in Norway, Iceland, or Liechtenstein
  • have successfully completed a training course and are recognised as a fully qualified practitioner by the recognised authority in Norway, Iceland or Liechtenstein
  • have successfully completed or satisfied any additional conditions, including any period of professional experience which are required for employment on a permanent basis in Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein

Being recognised as a qualified practitioner and being registered with the EWC are statutory requirements in order to work as a qualified practitioner in the category of further education teacher, adult learning practitioner, youth worker, and youth support worker in Wales

An application for registration can only be made if your application for recognition is successful.

We will consider and respond to your application for recognition within 21 working days from the date of receipt, provided all the necessary information and evidence has been received by us.

Qualified practitioners from Norway, Iceland, and Liechtenstein may also be eligible for provisional registration with the EWC if your application does not fulfil all of the recognition requirements.

If you are granted provisional registration with a condition(s), we will explain:

  • what the condition(s) is/are
  • what you need to do to meet them
  • the time frame within which they must be met
  • that the condition(s) are recorded on the Register and on your conditional registration letter

If you do not meet all the conditions within the timeframe and you are not granted an extension, your registration will lapse.

You will be advised of the outcome via the email address used to submit your application, unless you have advised us otherwise. If you should have any questions, please contact registration@ewc.wales.
