EWC showcases examples of excellent youth work across Wales

The Education Workforce Council (EWC) has today launched its ‘Quality Mark - examples of good practice’ webpage.

The page features several case studies from organisations accredited with the Quality Mark for Youth Work in Wales. Each provides real-world examples of how organisations across Wales are working to deliver the best outcomes for young people.

Some of the organisations featured include:

  • The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award
  • Carmarthenshire Youth Support Service
  • YMCA Cardiff
  • Welsh Centre for International Affairs
  • RCT - Youth Engagement & Participation Service
  • Wrexham County Borough Council

Speaking on the launch, Andrew Borsden MBE, Youth Work Quality Mark Development Officer at EWC said, “These examples of good practice allow us to celebrate the creativity and great work being achieved by our youth workers and youth organisations across Wales.

“They also clearly demonstrate the impact the Quality Mark is having on young people across the country”.

Accompanying the examples of good practice is a blog written by Paul Glaze, Chief Executive for the Council for Wales of Voluntary Youth Services (CWVYS). In his blog, entitled ‘Good youth work practice and why it’s important to share it’, Paul talks about how empowering the workforce to continuously develop skills, share learning and embed an improvement culture allows us to meet the ever-changing needs of our young people.

The Quality Mark for Youth Work in Wales supports and recognises improving standards in the provision, practice and performance of organisations that deliver youth services - demonstrating and celebrating the excellence of their work.

To date, 24 youth work organisations across Wales have achieved the Quality Mark.
