The Education Workforce Council (EWC) and Parentkind have published a revised guide to support parents and guardians play a more active role in their children’s education. 

The guide provides important information and advice, including the requirements upon a registered education practitioner, and what parents and guardians can do should they have a concern.

The publication of the guide follows a revision to the EWC’s Code of Professional Conduct and Practice in 2022 – a document which sets out the standards expected of a registered education practitioner, both in and out of work. Every practitioner must to commit to complying with the Code when they register with the EWC.

Following publication of the guide, EWC’s Chief Executive, Hayden Llewellyn said “As parents and guardians, we know nothing is more important to you than the safety and wellbeing of your children.

“This guide helps parents and guardians understand how we, through regulation, ensure that you and your child receive the highest standards of professional conduct and practice from our registrants.”

The guide, which was originally published in 2019, underwent a full revision in partnership with national federated charity, Parentkind.
