Five reasons why your registration record matters

At the Education Workforce Council (EWC), we are committed to supporting a strong and effective education workforce in Wales. Key to this commitment is ensuring we have accurate, up-to-date information on every individual we register.

As part of our ongoing efforts to improve the quality of the data we hold on our Register, we’re reaching out to all registrants, asking them to log in and review their record.

Why is it important?

Here are five reasons why having accurate data is important to the whole education workforce in Wales.

  1. Maintains trust in your profession

As a regulator, we are trusted to keep a public record of who is working in education across Wales. Maintaining accurate data enhances transparency and trust amongst the public and within the sector itself. It reassures everyone that only those who are qualified and suitable can deliver education across Wales.

  1. Improves workforce planning

Comprehensive and accurate data allows us to provide insightful, real-time information to policymakers, ensuring that decisions around funding, support, and strategic priorities are aligned with the realities of the professions. Your updates help us speak confidently in response to the needs of the sector, and enables us to represent you effectively in discussions that shape Welsh education.

  1. Supports your professional recognition

Registration formally recognises that you meet the standards required to work in such an esteemed and respected role. By updating your record (including your role, qualifications, and contact information), you help us build a comprehensive picture of the profession and ensure that your needs and achievements are recognised.

  1. Ensures effective communication

Keeping your contact details up to date allows us to share important updates, opportunities, and resources tailored to your role. It ensures you stay informed about key developments that impact you and the wider education workforce in Wales.

  1. Means you're compliant

As part of your registration, you are required to maintain your record, updating it as soon as possible following any change. By keeping your details current, you ensure compliance with the requirements of registration, helping you avoid potential issues.
